During May and June 2007, the OARiNZ project reviewed the institutional repository road map, originally set out in July 2005. The purpose of the review was to set objectives for the next 2–3 years to support enriched scholarly communication through efficient pathways to research output discovery. The review covered the following topics:

The review proposes an on-line survey, to identify the issues that representatives of the repository community in New Zealand consider are important. Participation in the survey will be voluntary, with informed consent. Survey responses will be anonymous; neither the respondents nor their institutions will be identified.

The Road Map to 2010 will be based on the findings of the survey and will make visible the knowledge gleaned by practitioners in their efforts to date. The review has highlighted important research questions requiring further investigation and it proposes a framework for practitioners charged with creating and sustaining institutional repositories.

To carry out the survey and analyse the results requires additional project funding, as it is outside the scope of the OARiNZ project. Implementing the proposed framework will require a new work programme with new funding.
