OARiNZ Knowledge Base Wiki

The OARiNZ Knowledge Base wiki is an on-line clearing house of information relevant to people involved in New Zealand repository projects. It is ‘always draft’ — as knowledge grows about how to create, manage, and promote institutional repositories (IRs), we hope that people will contribute their experience, thoughts, as well as reports and other documents.

The Knowledge Base includes a list of projects and individual repositories, as well as resources created within the various projects — such as technical evaluations, repository implementation and operations guides as well as case studies of individual repository evaluations. The initial phase of the Knowledge Base has been built on an environmental scan and review of literature on existing digital repositories overseas, focusing on technologies used to create, manage and evaluate them. This includes implementation considerations and factors which can be identified as being critical to their success, such as advocacy. It also includes assessment of risks that are barriers to fulfilment of the objectives of each repository, such as third party copyright.

The Knowledge Base begins with a short history of institutional repositories. Of additional interest to researchers will be the selected bibliography and the collection of reports on New Zealand IR-related seminars and workshops.
